Alright my foodie friends- it’s time to answer the most important questions of all: what and where are we eating?
Many of Eleuthera’s restaurants are tucked into their resorts so the menus tend to be fairly international to appeal to the widest group of people- and their thriving expat community.
In my (admittedly limited) Caribbean travels, I’ve noticed that food has a tendency to be fairly repetitive. I almost exclusively ate chicken curry for my whole trip through Guadeloupe! For this reason, I noticed and greatly appreciated the variety of food that Eleuthera had to offer.
Popular Eleuthera cuisine includes a lot of seafood, of course, so make sure to try a conch salad or cracked conch during your trip!
I’m not a huge fan of seafood, so with that limitation in mind, I still did end up eating a lot of chicken here but the food was always fresh and delicious with enough variety that it didn’t feel too boring.
Pascal’s Ocean Front Seafood Restaurant & Pool Bar
Pascal’s is a favorite amongst expats and locals alike. The infinity pool with its pool bar is a huge draw, as is its live music every Sunday.
It can get a little crowded, but it’s a fun place to meet new people! Keep an eye on your food, though- those seagulls are quick to steal your snacks! Don’t worry- there’s an enclosed area in which to eat your food if you prefer.
Tippy’s
Tippy’s is a treasured institution in Governor’s Harbor.
This local watering hole is located right on the beach with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is fresh, the drinks are delicious, and they’ve got live music every Wednesday and Saturday.
I missed out on this one, since it’s closed on Mondays, but I was recommended a stop at Tippy’s by more than a few locals.
Buccaneer Club
This locally owned restaurant is a fan favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is more of a sit down restaurant than a pit stop, but it’s still a relatively casual affair.
For breakfast, I highly suggest ordering the popular Coconut Rum French Toast. How much more Caribbean can it get?
Squires Village Café and Gift Shop
I feel like Squires keeps coming up in my Eleuthera posts, but I had a really excellent coffee and a lovely sandwich here for a relatively inexpensive price- especially considering we’re in the Bahamas!
It’s located right in the Governor’s Harbor settlement, so it’s the perfect place to stop for a quick snack between beaches.
We came back here twice- it’s that good!
Fig Tree Restaurant At The Potlatch Club
If you’re looking for a fancier meal, stop by the Potlatch Club for a sit down experience. The venue itself is gorgeous, and its on-site restaurant is no different. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant is located under a huge Banyan Fig Tree- from which the restaurant takes its name.
Dining is available either inside an air conditioned building or al fresco under the tree.
The restaurant is on the pricier side, but tries to use local, fresh ingredients when at all possible.
Governor Harbor’s Fish Fry
While this isn’t a restaurant per-say, this open air party is a great place to try local food. Try some conch fritters from the Ninja Conch stall, and make sure to try a rum bubba- but only the one! This signature drink will knock your socks off if you’re not careful!
If you’re lucky enough to be here for the Fish Fry, walk a little past the main party to find a truly excellent BBQ spot running out of a tent. It was some of the best grilled chicken I’ve ever had! There are some tables to eat here, or take your food back to the main party area.
