With London being as expensive as it is- and only getting pricier- I’m always looking for a good deal on a hotel.
During my most recent stay, it was far less expensive to stay in the more Western City of London than anywhere within spitting distance of Westminster.
I was pleasantly surprised by the price of Tower Hotel, so I wanted to give it a try.
Although I was looking for a deal, I couldn’t resist upgrading to the Tower Bridge View Room. It wasn’t a huge price jump in the grand scheme of things, and I was willing to splurge on what would be my last night in town.
Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of the exterior design of the hotel- it’s a little too brutalist for my liking. Luckily, the interior of the building was much more modern with an open and airy lobby, and a recently opened bar- VU from the Tower. The bar looks out to Tower Bridge, but I was pleased to note that my room view was better!
Once I was checked in, I headed straight up to my room. The room itself was a little on the smaller size, with just enough room for two twin beds a desk and a small table by the window. Everything was clean and neatly organized.
The main draw, of course, was the view! The cost to upgrade to a Tower Bridge View room wasn’t exorbitant, so I was expecting to see maybe a corner of the bridge when I leaned out the window.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the window to a spectacular view of Tower Bridge!
I don’t usually spend much time in my hotels when I travel, so it doesn’t usually make sense for me to pay extra for a view, but rest assured that I got my money’s worth out of this one!
Once I saw the outside of the hotel, the price made more sense. The hotel was designed in such a way that I imagine nearly a third of their rooms would have a great view of the bridge.
Tower Hotel also boasts a restaurant called Vicinity that offers views of both the Shard and Tower Bridge, but the most popular option during my stay was the Lawn bar, located right along the Thames in front of the bridge. It’s such a cute spot in nice weather!

Tower Hotel is located in St Katherine and Wapping, which may feel slightly out of the city center for first time visitors, but it’s conveniently located next to prime tourist sites such as the Tower of London, the Shard, Borough Market, St. Paul’s Cathedral and, of course, Tower Bridge!
The seven minute walk to the nearest tube station was a bit of a pain while hauling luggage, but the tube is such a convenient way to get around the city! It’s only a ten minute train from Tower Hill to Westminster.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Tower Hotel. It’s in the perfect location for those trying to see more of Eastern London, while still being central enough to hit sites like Big Ben and Trafalgar Square.
I was really pleased with the price of my stay- especially considering my spectacular view. I’ve been happily recommending this hotel to everyone looking for a special visit to London.
