I’ve said it before, but I am of the firm belief that Glasgow is an underrated city! Not only does the city itself have wonderful attractions, but it also makes for a great launching point for day tours out to the rest of the country.
I selected a few of my favorite tour options that travel with a small group. Small tours allow for faster and more flexible touring, which often makes for a better overall experience.
Oban, Glencoe, Highlands Lochs & Castles Small Group Day Tour from Glasgow
Glencoe is, in my opinion, the prettiest place in Scotland. I encourage absolutely everyone to at least drive through this stunning landscape.

This tour offers views of Inveraray Castle, Kilchurn Castle, and Stalker Castle in addition to the magnificent Western Highlands and Loch Lomond. It’s a really great way to make the most of a single day in the Highlands- especially if you like castles! This tour is a great option to see some of the most iconic Scottish sights- what’s more Scottish than lochs, castles, and mountains?

Oban is also a cute fishing town that is definitely worth a visit! Make sure to pop up to the McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill viewpoint for the best view of the town.

Cost: $68.11 (on sale!)
Time: 10 hours (approximately)

Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond and Cruise Day Tour from Glasgow
While Stirling Castle can be visited by public transport from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, this tour takes the inconvenience of driving (especially on the left side of the road) out of your hands! I really enjoyed visiting Stirling Castle on my first visit, and it’s nice to have the castle entrance included in the cost of the tour.
This tour offers an included cruise around Loch Lomand to really give you time to take in the view.
Visitors get the best of both sides of Scotland in a single trip- a castle and a visit to one of Scotland’s most famous Lochs!
Cost: $113.14 (on sale!)
Time: 9 hours (approximately)
Size: 16 person max
Loch Ness & the Highlands Day Tour from Glasgow Including Cruise
Although long, this tour combines some of the most unmissable Scottish landmarks into a single day trip. Visitors will get to see the famous Glencoe, Cairngorms National Park, and also enjoy an included cruise of Loch Ness.

Cairngorms National Park is the second national park in Scotland, after Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park- which is also visited on this trip!

Cost: $111.52(on sale!)
Time: 12 hours (approximately)
Size: 16 person max
I took the Loch Ness and Highlands day tour from Glasgow years ago while in Scotland. It was a long, 12-hour visit in the dead of winter, but it was lovely all the same. Looks like you had better weather during your time there, and I hope to revisit Scotland for bluer skies! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Omg I’ve only been to Scotland in the fall and I can’t imagine how wet and chilly it would be in the winter! Hopefully equally pretty, at least!
