Lisbon is a city full of culinary delights- and I sampled quite a few on my recent trip to the city! I’ve curated a few of my favorites places in the city for this post, but feel free to drop your favorites in the comments.
This trendy pink cafe is home to what was probably the best brunch of my life. They’ve got a huge menu and it’s so hard to choose! Luckily, they have an option where indecisive guests can select a tea, a juice, a toast, and a sweet treat to wrap up the meal all for a reasonable price. The entire meal was incredible, but the juices were a real stand out to me- they’re freshly pressed on location! There are no reservations, so make sure to visit before the crowds.
Casa Da Praia Tapas and Wine Bar
The first in a string of bars and restaurants next to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, we sat down at Casa Da Praia with the intention of bar hopping and simply never got up. The bar is pretty attention grabbing from the outside with wine bottles lining the walls- it certainly kept my posture in check as we were seated near them! We had a few glasses of wine and a charcuterie board here to our great enjoyment.
Stop by Prado for a creative and local cuisine! The industrial chic restaurant is located down a quiet alley just a seven minute walk away from Castelo de São Jorge. The dishes are fresh, local, and made to share! Its recommended to order a selection of dishes for the table- and a bottle of wine to share. Don’t worry- there’s an on-call sommelier to help you pick out the perfect bottle from their extensive organic and biodynamic wine list! Some of the menu items were a little on the adventurous side for me, but where else to try new things than in new places? Definitely make a reservation before stopping by.
Have you even been to Lisbon if you haven’t had a pastel de nata? These sweet custard tarts are a staple of Portugal and are the ultimate tasty snack to fuel your Portuguese adventures. Though a bit far from central Lisbon, Pastéis de Belém is the place to get your pastéis! The line is long but moves quickly- the cafe is a lot larger on the inside than it looks! The bright interior and tasty food is definitely worth the wait!
More of an evening outing, the LX Factory is a strip of shops interspersed with cute bars and restaurants. It was late when we visited so many of these places were closed, but even then it seemed like an incredibly hip and creative place- the artwork on the buildings themselves were beautiful! We didn’t stay here for too long but drawn by the neon, we enjoyed a drink or two at the Amazon-themed Ni Michi.
Listen- I love rooftop bars. I love speakeasies. Park Bar, which is a combination of both, took my entire heart. As hinted by the name, this bar is located on top of a parking garage and despite the large graffitied “Bar ->” sign by the parking garage entrance and ambiguously encouraging signs on each floor of the garage, I was not fully convinced that we were going to find anything right up until we were walking through the entrance of the coolest little bar in Lisbon.
There is an indoor area and an outdoor area, both with their own bars and the view from the rooftop terrace was one of my favorites in the city! We were lucky enough to find this bar at an off peak time, but I imagine it can get crowded very easily despite the open concept and comfy seating.
Honorable Mentions
Time Out Market Lisbon– super crowded, super yummy. Definitely a good spot for a rapid-fire sampling of the tasty treats Lisbon has to offer, but a little overwhelming for my tastes. You may have a fight on your hands to grab a seat.
Lumi Restaurante and Bar– I love rooftop bars, what can I say! This place was cute, but it was hard to see over the sides of the rooftop terrace unless seated at the perfect angle and the drinks were a little pricey.
Limão Rooftop Bar– We chose to stay at the H10 Duque de Loulé almost entirely because of the incredible views from this rooftop terrace. It’s a little out of the way of the classic Lisbon tourist sites, but gets bonus points for being located so conveniently close to my bed. There are no reservations and there can be a long wait in the evenings, but it’s a lovely spot for an afternoon drink.
Nothing beats the classic egg tarts! I’ve tried the ones from Lord Stow’s Bakery (originally from Macau), but the original version is very much worth traveling to Portugal to.
I loved them- we must have had at least one a day as we traveled through Portugal!
Pretty good for breakfast too – I remember having at least two egg tarts with a cup of instant coffee during a trip to Singapore!

Honestly I think the caramel sauce was my favorite part of the ice cream, but it sure was interesting! Park Bar was one of my favorites, but definitely get there off peak!
Park Bar was fun. Got a seat too but climbing the stairs through the parking lots I wasn’t sure I was in the right place. Thanks for recommending it. I had their version of an Aperol Spritz. Cheers!
